You may have read a newspaper article published in the
Singapore Straits Time on the 11.07.12.
Headline: 25% of Wall St execs see dishonesty as a key to
success.
I guess most people would react like me and think that this
is outrageous.
When reading on, the article also mentioned, amongst other
things, that 16% of respondents to a survey would commit insider trading if
they could get away with it. (Explanation – Insider trading means obtaining privileged
knowledge and based on that knowledge make a profit by buying or selling
shares. Insider trading is illegal)
Using confidential knowledge for a personal gain? Don’t many
of us have sometimes naughty thoughts like that and are tempted by it? I guess
many of us have. It seems quite normal that sometimes we have unsavoury
thoughts. This reminds me about the old saying.
What is the difference between a saint and a sinner? Answer:
Both have a ‘little devil’ inside. The saint is just better in managing it.
