Rational Thinking

I don’t think that the following is new to you; however, it will serve as a good refresher.

I took this quote out of a book that I was reading recently. Sorry, I can’t remember the title.

“Our intellect can function only when it is removed from the influence of strong emotional impulses.”

So, if you are ‘hot’ about something – Take a break, cool down before taking action. And, when taking action, think about your objective first and align your action accordingly.

Some scenarios:
- When under stress.
- When you made a mistake.
- When you are (wrongly) accused.
- When getting an annoying email avoid ‘hammering’ back the answer immediately.
- When receiving comments that hurt your ego, take a breather before answering.
- When being treated unfairly think carefully how to argue your case in a rational manner.
